About Craig

My Story

I was brought up in a rural North Oxfordshire village, surrounded by large areas of open farmland. My father loved natural history and photography and because of this, my interest in photography followed. Initially, I had an interest in photographing birds but this soon developed to include all aspects of the natural world, with British Wildlife in particular.

An encounter with a family of foxes in 1988, led to my first competition entry, resulting in a runners up price of BBC Junior Wildlife Photographer of the Year. Other successes have included multiple British Wildlife Photographer of the Year placements, Travel Photographer of the Year (category win “Natural Wonders”, 2009) and recently, a category win for Deer Photography of the Year (2025, Behaviour).

My work has been published in numerous publications and has a number of wildlife organisations on my portfolio, including, Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), English Nature, Greater London Authority and the Black Redstart Organisation.

I now strive to capture subjects in new and interesting ways, introducing a fresh outlook on the natural world as opposed to traditional framed filling images.
